Property Insurance

The university property insurance is provided by Kammarkollegiet and managed by the Security and safety division. The insurance provides protection for various scenarios depending on the type of damage and the circumstances.

Property Insurance
Intended to cover the loss of the authority's property within Sweden's territorial borders. In case of damage, the insurance reimburses restoration costs or expenses for the acquisition of new property. Property that is not restored or replaced is compensated based on the market value at the time of the damage.

  • Foreign Property
    Covers the loss of the authority's property outside of Sweden's territorial borders.
  • Art Objects
    Covers costs for damages to art objects, including restoration expenses.
  • Museum Objects
    Reimburses costs to restore damaged museum objects and artefacts only if the damage is caused by fire and/or water.
  • Temporarily Loaned Art and Museum Objects
    Compensates necessary and reasonable costs to restore the damaged object to the condition it had before the damage occured.

Consequential Damage Insurance
Compensates additional costs in connection with property damage.

Liability Insurance
Encompasses the university's liability for damages and additionally covers certain other expenses.

Damage reports and insurance claim adjustments

Report damage

The damage must be reported in writing within one month of the institution/equivalent becoming aware of the damage.

If the notification is sent for more than one month after the injury date, this means that Kammarkollegiet will make deductions with 20% in the event of outgoing insurance compensation.

Excess

In the event of injury, it is the institution/equivalent where the damage occurred, which accounts for the excess.

In case of fire or water damage

Contact the Insurance Industry’s Residual Value Rescue, phone 020-32 23 22, and request a RESPONSE VALUE MANAGER in accordance with the agreement of Kammarkollegiet.

Contact a security officer at the Security and safety department

The Physical security and safety department should always be contacted when an incident of property damage or liability has occured. The department's security officer manages the damage investigation internally as well as the contact with Kammarkollegiet.

Protection requirements for freezers and thermostat rooms

Protection requirements for freezers and thermostat rooms

The departments freezers and thermostat rooms are covered by the insurance only if all protection requirements are met and they are included in a list. The head of department is responsible for ensuring that the protection requirements are met.

Contact persons appointed by the head of department and who are on the contact list must be informed about the nature of the assignment and the importance of being reachable.

Protection requirements

Operating alarms that alarm at temperature rise for each thermostat room / freezer. The alarm should be forwarded to alarm receivers that guarantee 24/7 action.

Contact list (link to fillable pdf form) on each thermostat room / freezer with at least 2 contacts, current telephone numbers daytime and other time. The contact list must not be older than 6 months and must be adjusted if necessary.

A list of freezers (link to fillable pdf form Pdf, 98 kB.) must be available. The list must be adjusted and updated upon change, at least once a year and sent to the Security and Safety Diviison.
