Study at the Department of Earth Sciences

Our teachers are active researchers with expertise in all our educational areas: rocks and minerals, volcanoes, earthquakes and natural disasters, weather and climate change, evolution of life on Earth, dinosaurs, wind power, environmental and water technologies, glacier research, carbon sequestration, sustainable energy systems and sustainable development issues.

The Department of Earth Sciences at Uppsala University has over 250 employees and teaches more than 2200 students every year. Our courses offer a wide range within the earth science area and several of the department's programmes have received the highest rating in evaluations.
