Molecular biology

What kind of research are we doing?

We use molecular biology, structural biology and systems biology to answer questions in basic and applied research. We study biochemical processes ranging from protein synthesis and folding to ribozyme catalysis. Most of the reserach groups in this program focus on RNA biology. Medical problems under investigation include amyloid formation, antibiotic resistance, tuberculosis, giardiasis and malaria. We are also developing biotechnology and synthetic biology platforms and courses.

The molecular biology program is lead by Professor Anthony Forster and consists of four research groups. For more information on research projects, click on the websites of these groups.
