About Centre for Multidisciplinary Research on Religion and Society (CRS)

Uppsala Religion and Society Research Centre (CRS) is a multidisciplinary research centre of excellence at Uppsala University, focusing on religious and social processes of change.

CRS carries out multidisciplinary research of high international quality. Those societal questions which are actualised by people’s existential experiences and the increasing presence and visibility of religions are the focus of research.

CRS builds on experiences and results of research undertaken during the IMPACT programme. Based on ten years’ experience a number of projects are under construction which develop ongoing research as well as creating initiatives within completely new fields.

CRS offers a dynamic research environment, beneficial to project coordination and development of theory and methods both nationally and internationally. The high quality research is carried out in close cooperation and collaboration with other actors and organisations in society.

Research at CRS

A broad range of research projects are currently ongoing focusing on key areas for research at CRS, such as democracy, migration and artificial intelligence.
