University Administration

The task of the University Administration is to provide administrative support and create favourable conditions for education and research, and to facilitate the University's fulfilment of its official responsibilities.

Property owner

The Segerstedt Building is owned and managed by Akademiska hus, which is also the property owner of several campuses in Uppsala, including Blåsenhus, Ekonomikum, Engelska parken and Ångström.

Torgny Segerstedt

The building is named after Torgny T:son Segerstedt (1908-1999), former Rector of Uppsala University for over 20 years (1955-1978).

Segerstedt's rectorship was an eventful time, during which the Swedish higher education system underwent extensive modernisation, not least through the 1964 University Charter and the 1977 higher education reform.

During these twenty-three years, more students were enrolled than in the entire history of Uppsala University, i.e. the period from 1477 to 1955.
