About Rudbeck Laboratory

The Rudbeck Laboratory was inaugurated in February 2000 and is located in Uppsala Science Park, close to both BMC and Academic Hospital. The address is Dag Hammarskjölds väg 20 (map).

The guiding idea in the planning of Rudbeck Laboratory was to create a new type of interdisciplinary research environment within the field of medicine and pharmacy at Uppsala University, aiming to develop new and more efficient methods for molecular diagnostics and novel therapies. In addition to the university's research institutions, the Academic Hospital also conducts clinical activities with patient receptions. Rudbeck Laboratory also houses the BioVis Platform with its advanced instruments for flow cytometry and microscopy.

Olof Rudbeck the Elder

Rudbeck Laboratory is named after Olof Rudbeck the Elder, who is credited with what is often referred to as the first medical scientific discovery made by a Swede. He discovered the lymphatic system and its pathways in the human body.

Service and Administration

For internal service and shared spaces, the Rudbeck Laboratory Campus Management is responsible. Property management is overseen by Fastighet och Service Region Uppsala (the hospital operation center).
