Staff and teacher exchanges via ICM at Uppsala University

International Credit Mobility (ICM) is a programme within Erasmus+. It allows for teachers, staff, and PhD students from partner universities outside of the EU to visit Uppsala University with a grant on one of three types of staff exchanges.

Types of ICM staff exchanges at Uppsala University

1. Job shadowing

An employee at one of the ICM partner universities goes to Uppsala University to do ”job shadowing” full-time. This means that the employee works next to Uppsala University colleagues that have similar work tasks. The goal is to improve their skills and develop their ways of working.

2. Teaching exchange

A teacher at one of the ICM partner universities can come to Uppsala University and teach here for at least eight hours per week. Activities that may count as teaching include all types of teaching of students where the teacher is physically present at the host university, e.g. seminars, lectures, and tutoring. The goal for the teacher is to have a chance to develop professionally and personally, to strengthen contacts with the partner universities, and to spread knowledge at both the host university and home university.

3. International Staff Weeks

Once every two years, staff from our ICM partner universities have an opportunity to learn more about internationalisation, research, education, and student engagement at Uppsala University. Please note that you are expected to participate in the full week (five workdays). A sum covering lunches will be deducted from your grant. The next planned Staff Week will be held in May 2025.
